
Ingredients:
1 cup red lentils,
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric,
2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves,
2 green chillies, pared,
2 teaspoons crushed garlic,
1 tablespoon sliced onion,
1 tablespoon cooking oil,
3 medium -sized tomatoes,
Salt to taste.
Method:
1. Simmer lentils in 4 cups of water with turmeric, chilli powder and salt for 40 minutes. cut each tomato into 4 pieces, add to the lentils and cook till tomatoes are soft.
2. Add coriander leaves, green chillies and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the sliced onion and crushed garlic brown. Pour the lentils and bring to a boil.
Serve hot with boiled rice. Yields 6 servings.
