
Ingredients:
1 kg ( 2 lb ) beef or mutton,
250 gm (1 lb ) potatoes,
1/2 cup finely chopped onion,
2 tablespoons ground ginger,

1 teaspoon ground turmeric,
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder,
1 teaspoon ground cumin,
1 teaspoon ground coriander,
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper,
3 sticks 2.5 cm piece cinnamon,
3 cardamoms,
3/4 cup cooking oil,
Salt to taste.
Method of preparation:
1. In a pan, put in the ingredients except 1/4 cup of oil and potatoes. Mix them well. Add 3 cups of water. Put lid on, cook over a low heat until meat is just tender and water dries up.
2. heat rest of the oil in a separate pan. Fry 2 tablespoons sliced onion till golden brown.
3. Add the meat and the potatoes. Stir and fry for 10 - 15 minutes. Add enough hot water to tender the meat and the potatoes. Simmer till potatoes are soft.
Serve hot with anyone of them like fluffy boiled rice, khichuri, plain pullao, parata or chapatti.
Yields 6 servings.
