Ingredients:
1 cup Bengal gram/chickpeas,
1 teaspoon shredded ginger,
2 cloves garlic, crushed,
½ tablespoon sugar,
2 tablespoons chopped onion,

2 green chillies,
Salt to taste.
Directions:
· Rinse the chickpeas. Add 3 – 4 cups of water. Bring to boil, add salt, ginger and garlic. Boil until chickpeas are soft and broken. Add the sugar and green chillies.
· In a saucepan heat the oil and fry the onion brown. Pour in the chickpeas and remove from heat.
Serve hot with luchi or boiled rice. Yields 6 – 8 servings.
